Popeye's
Fried Chicken

The Popeye's story began in New Orleans back in 1972, when
Al Copeland opened a quick-service restaurant called "Chicken on
the Run," selling traditional mild fried chicken to the downtown
lunch crowd. But business was slow, and Copeland realized that he'd have
to develop a spicier alternative to his standard chicken recipe if he
wanted to impress flavor-seeking New Orleanians.

El-Pollo
Loco

It began well over two decades ago in the small town of Guasave
on Mexico’s Pacific Coast. The year was 1975, and Juan Francisco
"Pancho" Ochoa opened his first roadside chicken stand. He
named it El Pollo Loco, pronounced "L-Po-yo Lo-co" and Spanish
for "The Crazy Chicken." Pancho began serving chicken the same
way his mother did --

Pizza
Hut

The legacy of Pizza Hut began in 1958, when two college
students from Wichita, Kansas, were approached by a family friend with
the idea of opening a pizza parlor. Although the concept was relatively
new to many Americans at that time, the brothers quickly saw the
potential of this new enterprise.

Arby's

Arby's was founded in 1964, but the concept for a roast
beef sandwich franchise was rooted many years earlier. Forrest
Raffel, a graduate of Cornell University School of Hotel and Restaurant
Administration and his younger brother Leroy, a graduate of Wharton
School of Finance, University of Pennsylvania, bought an uncle's
restaurant equipment business in the 1950s. Raffel Brothers, Inc.
became a fitting introduction to the foodservice industry for the
brothers.

Tony
Roma's

One weekend back in the '70's, Chef
David Smith and Tony Roma decided to throw some baby backs on the grill.
It was going to be a temporary thing, using Tony Roma's own secret
barbeque recipe. On Monday, they would go back to grilling their great
burgers and steaks, and it would be business as usual at that little
place called Tony Roma's restaurant in North Miami, Florida. One taste,
and customers immediately convinced them to change their plans.
